Wound Dressing Policy
Developing services has supported the creation of new protocols for District Nurses:
The first provides a service to make it simpler for non-prescribable dressings to be obtained online,
without bothering a GP. The second is a protocol for managing Rosacea - and is being assed by the Health Board's Medicine & Therapeutics committee, before being launched across Gwent.

Social Prescriber
The Social Prescriber is based in GP Practices in North Torfaen, is jointly funded by NCNs and the Local Authority. The Social Prescriber post aims to increase the reach and speed of connectivity between Primary Care and Community Wellbeing Services, which mitigate the causes of ill health and improve mental wellbeing. The Social Prescriber compiles information to ensure that patients, their families and carers are able to access information about local services: including debt management, legal services, mental wellbeing, carers support, benefits advice, housing, routes to employment, domestic violence and befriending.
